Netherlands Servers (SmartDC)

All of our Dutch servers are located in the SmartDC in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. SmartDC was chosen because of its availability excellent, modern facilities, excellent connectivity (we get <10ms ping to London!) and their ethical business policy.

 SmartDC has made significant investment to be one of the most modern, reliable and green datacenters in todays competive market. To achieve this we're using some state of the art equipment for our datacenter management.


Power Supply


An important factor in the placement of SmartDC is the massive power capacity at the Van Nelle complex.

Power Capacity	- 23 KV Rotterdam Harbour Industry standard - Available net power capacity >50 MVA
UPS Systems	- APC Galaxy 7000 400 kVA - Runtime at max load 5 minutes - Maximum runtime 15 minutes (current load)
Generator	- SDMO V700 open set Diesel Generator - 2000 liter enlarged fuel tank - 48 hour fuel capacity (current load) without refueling - Contract for refueling - 5000 liter fuel on stock at all times - Synchronized return to net power, in case of power failure

Cooling


Proper cooling ensures your servers stay within their operational values. Additional humidity control ensures a static free environment for stable server operation.

Cooling concept	- Hot and cold corridors concept for optimal use of cooling capacity
Airco Units	- 2 x Stulz ASD 451 airco on every suite - 13.400 m3/h airflow (per unit) - Dynamic Free Cooling - R407gas high pressure cooling
Humidity Control	- Stulz humidifier placed on the roof of the datacenter - 50% relative himidity
Temperature	- 24°C

Fire Protection


Fire protection ensures the security and integrity of your servers should a fire start in one of the suites.

Fire Detection System	- All suites are equipped with a double VESDA System (Very Early Smoke Detection and Activation System)
Fire Extuingishing System	- Automated Argonite gas extuingishing system - Delay switch in each suite for 30 second delay of gas release - All suites are fully waterproof - Automated sprinkler system outside the server suites

Security


SmartDC is secured 24/7 by both automated security systems and onsite security staff.

Facility Security	- 24/7 on site security guards - Fenced perimeter - Speed gates on terrain entry - Datacenter build off ground level to prevent a ram-raid
Automated Security Systems	- Electronic Security system for 24/7 control of the facility - Access control through access lists - Intrusion Detection & Alarm System - Per zone key card system + access logging
Camera Security	- Indoor & Outdoor CCTV camera system - Access logging on camera's with automated image logging on motion detection

Facility


SmartDC is housed in the monumental Van Nelle complex in Rotterdam. The Van Nelle complex is a national monument.

Facility specifications	- Datacenter build off ground level to prevent a ram-raid - Additional guardrails at potential weak points - 3000 m2 floor space - 10 MVA power (upgradable) - Housed in a monumental building - Additional office and storage space - Secure parking facilities - Speed gates on terrain
