IP Policy
Here at Assiva Ltd (t/a udedi.com) we strongly believe that IP addresses should be a free resource, however like everything IP addresses are a finite resource (especially in IP4 format) and therefore there are limitations on how we can distribute these. In addition there are issues of administration, and also the cost of membership which the issuing authorities apply.
The policy on IP addresses is different depending on the location, however the basic premise applies that the IP address usage must be justifiable and therefore if it is not, it will be removed without warning. Please note that the policy on issuing IP addresses may change without warning or notice.
UK servers (GlobalSwitch2) – also covers UK VPS
Servers in our main DC, Global Switch2 are able to obtain IP addresses automatically without charge. They must be justified in accordance with RIPE rules in all situations and providing the justification is valid, there is currently no specific limit on IP addresses.
Please note that you may be contacted to account for all used IP addresses, especially where there are a higher than average volume of IP addresses assigned to a single server. Being asked to account for IP addresses does not preclude you from asking for further IP addresses.
UK servers (Docklands)
Servers located in the secondary Docklands DC will be assigned 3 IP addresses by default with all server orders. A further 7 IP addresses are available for free by request in 1 IP increments giving a total of 10 IP addresses available free of charge. Further IP addresses are available by request which will be billed at the rate of £3 per three IP addresses.
All requests must be requested in line with the RIPE rules and guidelines.
US servers (Singlehop)
Servers located within the Singlehop DC are currently provided with 5 IP addresses automatically assigned to your server free of charge. Additional IP addresses may be requested at the current rate of $14 per 13 IP’s in line with ARIN guidelines.
US servers (Softlayer)
Servers located within any of the Softlayer DC’s will be provided with five IP’s by default with all servers. Additional IP addresses are available with justification free of charge by request so long as the request is in line with the current RIPE guidelines. IP addresses will be issued singly unless otherwise agreed.
Please note that you may be contacted to account for all used IP addresses, especially where there are a higher than average volume of IP addresses assigned to a single server. Being asked to account for IP addresses does not preclude you from asking for further IP addresses.
General IP rules:
§ IP addresses remain administered by Assiva Ltd and do not become the property of the user
§ Allocations can be removed at any time
§ IP addresses may not be moved to alternative providers
§ All allocations are in line with the issuing authority rules / guidelines. The end user is responsible for complying with these rules and taking allocations legitimately
